REDHOT&BLUE

When listeners first heard Elvis on the airwaves he was introduced by one of rock and roll’s pioneer disc jockeys, Daddy-O Dewey Phillips, in July of 1954. Phillips was the first DJ to broadcast a young Elvis Presley’s “That’s Alright Mama” on his WHBQ show “Red, Hot and Blue”.

Rockabilly Rides’ “Red, Hot and Blue Tour” is a 90 minute journey along the Memphis streets and landmarks Elvis frequented before he was dubbed the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll”.  From his humble beginnings in a Memphis apartment, to where he worked, went to school and got a trim on that famous ducktail, to where he rehearsed with the Blue Moon Boys and the amphitheater where he performed his first professional live show.

These are just a few of the stops on the “Red, Hot and Blue” private tour.  Relive the days of an early Elvis in the city he called home before and long after he would rise to unprecedented fame.

MEMPHIS101

The city of Memphis has a story with disaster and triumph.  Memphis 101 is a 90 minute tour and a great way to learn about how Memphis evolved since the early 1800’s.  From it’s thriving cotton industry to an epidemic that almost wiped it off the map.  You’ll see churches that have been standing for centuries, historic homes where high society once dwelled, the city’s oldest theater, the park where a music genre was born and the hotel balcony where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in 1968 and much more.  Yes, Memphis is known for its musical roots.  But its the city’s fascinating past that inspired that unique Memphis sound.
